Firewing's Journey (Book 1) In this thrilling Young Adult Fantasy, Kathren Faralon and her younger sister Reni are the runaway children of a cruel, worthless father. Kathren, dubbed "Krag Firewing" for her quick temper (after the legendary dragon of Chandoria),
is taken in by Chase Bannon when she appears on his door-step with Reni in tow, asking not for shelter, but a job. She becomes a "peacekeeper" at Chase Bannon's inn, called Firewing's Rest. She makes an effective bouncer, thanks to her amazing talent for going unnoticed, enabling her to slip up on unruly patrons without warning. Krag is talented with her
dagger also, but soon learns that her talent for "going unnoticed," becoming invisible, is not a skill but the miraculous gift of magery.
Seventeen-year-old Krag becomes insecure when she learns that Chase Bannon has a daughter her own age, a young girl he's never seen. Stranger yet, this girl's mother (whom Chase had married in secret, for love, never knowing her true identity) was Queen of Chandoria, until her death left his daughter, Jaime, heir to the throne.
Jaime is now the unwitting pawn of Owen Straystone, the powerful royal mage whose ambition, by virtue of a magic bracelet fastened on Jaime's wrist, has transformed soon-to-be Queen Jaime from a willful, spoiled monster into the Royal Mage's thrall. To doubly ensure the bracelet's effectiveness, Straystone imprisons the younger Faralon sister, Reni, making the gentle twelve-year-old his hostage.
Chase Bannon is only an innkeeper; his adopted daughter Krag is only a peacekeeper with a single mage talent. They gather forces to reclaim Reni, and risk their lives bringing about Jaime's rescue from Owen Straystone's overwhelming clutches before she can be crowned.
